chris harris, MD

A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dr. Christopher “Chris” Harris is a 2006 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. He attended Jackson State University (Jackson, MS), where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. In 2010, Dr. Harris returned to Oklahoma to attend the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC), earning a Master of Public Health degree in health administration and policy. In 2018, he received his M.D. from OUHSC, where he also completed his residency in 2021. In July 2022, he completed a fellowship at the University of Illinois College of Medicine-Peoria where he focused on obstetrics and women's health. As a result, Dr. Harris is Oklahoma’s only African-American fellowship-trained family medicine and obstetrics (FM-OB) provider.

In addition to being the Owner and Physician of Nexus, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine, Fellow of the American Board of Family Physicians, Medical Director for New Hope Wellness Clinic, and the delivering OB provider for the Oklahoma State Department of Health Region 2 County Health Departments. He also serves on the National Women’s Health Advisory Board for VIIV, which is a manufacturer of HIV prevention and treatment medications, is a member of the Medicaid Medical Management Committee for Oklahoma Complete Health, and is a member of the OSDH Maternal and Child Health’s Preparing for a Lifetime Committee.

He and his wife, Amreen Alisha Harris, have two children—Inayaah and Carter. When he is not at work, Dr. Harris enjoys golfing, fishing, cooking, and playing with his dogs!
